Just before watching the Beowulf movie, I had the chance to read the composition along with ghthe class. I thought the movie was going to be a slight not the same as the legendary poem, nevertheless that it was even now going to check out the message the poem experienced given all of us. As we begun to watch the movie, I noticed which i as completely wrong because the video is almost completely different from the epic poem.

The movie kept very few elements in the original epic poem. Inside the poem, Grendel attacks Heorot because he is a descendent of Cain which has been exiled into darkness. Film production company let us know that Grendel was your son of Hrothgar, the king. Grendel could not strike or go against God himself, so he took that against God’s followers. In the movie, Grendel attacked Heorot because he are unable to stand music and performing.

Noise really bothered his head and ears. In both the motion picture and composition, Beowulf fights Grendel with no kind of weaponry or battle suits because Grendel isn’t applying any of that either. Beowulf wants this to be a fair fight. Beowulf tears Grendel’s arm off and weighs it up; I believe to symbolize the victory. Another major big difference to me, is that in the composition, Beowulf kills Grendel’s mother as soon as possible, while in the movie in some manner Beowulf is usually seduced simply by her.

Beowulf never kills Grendel’s mother. I think the movie producers required a really big leap with this part, it went completely different from the impressive poem. Grendel’s mother is additionally described as a lizard-type of creature that was unappealing and unattractive. Completely opposite to the epic poem, Grendel’s mother was attention grabbing and seductive in the motion picture, maybe this is why Beowulf offers in to her.

As a result of this kind of matter, Beowulf becomes the daddy of a dragon. The epic poem hardly ever mentions regarding Beowulf to become father, having been always devoted and devoted to his wife. Finally in the poem, Beowulf earnings to his homeland, in which he became old and became full. Beowulf was required to fight the dragon together with his knights working as a team, but instead, the knights experienced given up and weren’t aiding him at all.

Wiglaf is the only one who reaches away and helps him fight the dragon. This signifies the Anglo-Saxon Age was coming to an end. Despite this all, Beowulf never gives up, he fights for the end.

In the movie, Beowulf never comes back to his homeland, instead he turns into king in the Danes because of Hrothgar’s committing suicide. Beowulf ultimately ends up killing the dragon in both versions, but in the movie, Beowulf seemed to have lost the heroic, fearless, and brave values. Beowulf just seemed like he had quit.

Maybe it had been culpability about all his lies that had finally got to him. I liked reading the poem greater than watching film production company. I think the movie- makers shouldn’t took so much out of your original poem.

They made Beowulf look like a completely different person. The initial Beowulf composition portrayed most of the Anglo-Saxon ideals, while in the movie, it just seemed like they didn’t portray any of them at all. I desired to see Beowulf just like they will portrayed him in the composition.

I wanted to view Beowulf for being an honorable and heroic number that never gave up about it’s persons.
