Inside the novel characters, Robert Cormier uses language and fictional devices to explore the character of Larry LaSalle in terms of his physical appearance, talk patterns, reputation, public behavior and top secret actions. Heroes is a book set in, Frenchtown, America which explore the themes of secrecy, sense of guilt, love and heroism. Cormier slowly discloses why Francis and 18 year old really wants to kill, Lewis LaSalle a person he once worshiped. Francis tells us inside the first phase that LaSalle is the man I will kill. ‘ From the first chapter from the novel is clear that LaSalle is going to be very important throughout the account because he can be mentioned and Nicole Renard. When Lewis is introduced in the 1st chapter he is presented being a charismatic gentleman.

Cormier also describes him by using and adjective dazzling movie star’ which gives us the impression that LaSalle is in the beginning presented because someone rich and someone to be admired. However there is a sense of foreboding as to why he will not want to be inside the show organization and wants to run a children club in Frenchtown.
