Offense data evaluation essay
This week in class we were asked to choose two metropolitan areas based on a data and write a newspaper comparing the occurrence from the offense inside the selected areas. We were asked to identify the quantity of occurrences reported to the law enforcement officials for each place, and address the following concerns which place had more reported occurrences? What were the rates of the criminal offenses for each location? Did the rates change over time in either location? What factors might explain the differences inside the rates? The knowledge will be presented as it shows up above.
New York and New Jersey will be two urban centers that have had a lot of criminal offenses both visible media grabbing attention and low profile everyday criminal offense occurrences. As a result these two local area areas can offer for incredibly good demographical crime info as well as have got a good bottom to study from due to the large crime rates in both areas. As such this paper will be comparing forcible rape crime data coming from both areas to see what is going on in this particular field.
So with taking a look at the FBI. gov website and looking to get info on the two of these areas and the categories forcible rape it is quite clear that is a very big crime in both areas in new jersey the total intended for 2011 can be 1, 006 rape case which the yr before this season was at 981 cases which is a 2 . a few % increase in this offense. In Ny where this kind of crime is a lot higher in totals 2, 752 which is 1 . 6 % less than in 2010’s 2, 797 cases. With this info we can see a couple of things occurring here for 1 we can see that New York contains a drop in rape instances in one year and that Nj has increased with this crime, which could be as a result of a number of reasons.
We know that both states will be almost one out of the same and this many individuals that work in New York live in Nj-new jersey which could mean that these situations could require residents via both areas and so both equally would have possibly been reported to. We could speculate that New Jersey provides a less severe punishment than New York intended for rape criminal offenses and so the crooks would go to that particular area to commit the crime as a result of a fewer harsh consequence if trapped. Another aspect on this could be to release times during the prisoners within the state that might go to local area areas and commit criminal offenses; this could be an extremely real factor to consider due to the most likely hood of violent criminals repeating their very own crimes. At the least not just a single factor is the most likely purpose as to why we come across a drop in New york city and a rise in New Jersey.
The probability which it has to do with almost all of if only some stated elements is very actual, especially as rape is not a crime that can be forecasted nor seriously deter able unfortunately. And with both local area areas having such substantial populations it is also possible that many cases were never reported, this is why New York and New Jersey equally estimate a total as well as continue to keep records to get the actual total. In New York they had a proposal of 2, 972 rape circumstance that’s practically three hundred unreported rapes that may have occurred.
So with understanding that the actual rasurado cases reported versus the believed total you can see that although the statistics are going down and it may appear like the criminal offenses rate in an area is certainly going down you would probably still need to see the believed totals and compare to find what could always be unreported and unknown. With the info we have and the estimations on it too it is obvious that though I may appear that New york city is getting a handle on its afeitado crime it might not be as well off since it appears and although Nj-new jersey has had an increase in rape situations it also offers lowered it is estimate that could be a great sign or perhaps bad and unfortunately which is way criminal offenses an stats go ever changing and changing.
