William Edward Burghardt “W E. M. ” Man Bois (February 23, 1868 – September 27, 1963) was a north american sociologist, historian, civil rights activist, author and publisher. Born in western Massachusetts, Du Bois grew up within a tolerant community and experienced little racism as a child. Contrary to Booker T. Washington, who believed that unskilled blacks should concentrate on economic self-betterment, and Marcus Garvey, who have advocated a “back to Africa” motion, Du Bosquet demanded that African-Americans will need to achieve not merely economic parity with whites in the United States although full and immediate detrimental and personal equality as well.
