America is a nation with diverse population groups that continue to increase annually. The medical community must keep up with the changing times and adapt their treatment practices to meet the demand of providing overall quality health care. There are many aspects in which cultural differences enter play and especially during the patient provider romantic relationship.

It is important for the medical community and staff members to be prepared. With this paper, a discussion of the results from the project entitled the product quality and tradition quiz will probably be accomplished along with exploring and expanding on the answers that were incorrect. In areas that were answered incorrectly, replies will be recommended with conditions that could increase the patient outcome in the future. (MSH, n. g. ).. The product quality and culture quiz was taken two times, with a basic score of 14 plus the second the time has been the time hath been a of sixteen out of any total of 23 concerns. Both times taking this quiz I actually felt My spouse and i scored less than expected.

The quiz was taken 2 times because the initial score was so low. I was sure I could score better the other time, however the outcome was about the same just before reading the proper answers. Though I have been a medical helper and an unexpected emergency medical specialist for over 20 years that seemed to not have much of a direct effect when choosing this quiz.

In the Air Power community and further more in the medical community, diversity is touched upon but is not emphasized very much. Inside the clinic, we now have patient legal rights and pamphlets available in The spanish language but that is about it. I am aware we also have an interpreter listing intended for the base in case one is necessary. I feature my low score to not being exposed to various patients with diverse skills and ethnicities and not having the training that so important in today’s contemporary society.

As health care workers inside the military, In my opinion we are sheltered to the outside happenings mainly because we do not see or hear about community occasions outside of the camp in our day-to-day work environment. (MSH, n. deb. ). Areas that I do well in had been: understanding that there may be cross-cultural misunderstandings when detailing various medical information and procedures by patient, patient’s may not survey adequate health information because they can communicate very well or the company may misunderstand the particular indicator, as a supplier being aware of personal biases and giving the proper treatment for the condition, request direct and open-ended concerns from the sufferer, practice building a nonjudgmental ambiance where the sufferer feels comfortable to try the medical advice from the provider, paying attention that there could be underlying circumstances when not adhering to suggest medical treatment, and with the knowledge that utilizing specified interpreters during patient runs into is ideal as compared to involving the family because they might be often times they can be too psychologically involved to tell an accurate story. (MSH, n. d. ). The areas exactly where I need improvement and further knowledge are the influence of cultural competency on clinical effects, communicating and working with an interpreter, including the patient’s family during medical visits, paying attention that several patient’s can seek normal healing procedures before submitting to American medicine and being aware of gestures from different culture organizations. (MSH, n. d. ). Maintaining cultural competence inside the positive and negative areas is a regular work in improvement. There are alterations every day that people as future health educators must work towards.

This can be a matter of carrying on to read, study and apply what we have learned to every individual encounter and also to always handle the patient like a loved one may wish to be cared for. It can simply result in a positive result for any involved. (MSH, n. g. & MSH, 2009) Referrals: Airhihenbuwa, C. O. (1995). Health and traditions: Beyond the Western Paradigm.
