The novel To Kill a Mockingbird by simply author Harper Lee explains to the story of any southern American family surviving in a rural community through the Great Depression. Atticus Finch is the single, widowed father of Jeremy, nicknamed Jem, and Jean Louise, nicknamed Look. Many people of the town of Maycomb, The state of alabama dislike the Finches since Atticus is educated, due to way that Atticus can be raising his children and also for his attitudes to segregation and racial equality. Mr. Finch tries very difficult to teach his children from wrong, to leave them live and generate some of their individual mistakes, and raise them as brilliant human beings whom judge guys by the quality of the persona, not the colour of their pores and skin. Although Atticus Finch is not a ideal man, he is ultimately a great father and a very good man.

Most of the story of the novel deals with Atticus’s defense of the African-American person named Mary Robinson who is accused in the rape and brutal attack on a white woman, Mayella Ewell. Racism is widespread in Maycomb and almost all the adults possess prejudicial opinions. Racism is called “Maycomb’s usual disease” (Lee 98). In the south, Harper Lee causes it to be clear that there is no place to get justice for the black man. “Atticus is using every device available to free men in order to save Tom Robinson, but in the secret court of men’s minds Atticus experienced no circumstance. Tom was a dead gentleman the minute Mayella Ewell opened up her oral cavity and screamed” (Lee 270). Although Tom is obviously harmless, he is convicted and finally dies. Atticus is very worried about the case and with the larger concern of racial injustice which usually nearly brings about the loss of life of his two children.

Atticus Finch tries to get his children to master right from wrong by making them to help to make amends if they commit an incorrect and encouraging these to do right even when it is difficult.
