Through this paper I will discuss my learning experience and evaluate them with the angle of learning theories. Let me analyze my own learning activities with regards to time-honored conditioning, operant conditioning and cognitive- interpersonal learning theory.

First of all, We would begin by explaining my connection with learning to dread lizards with regards to classical health and fitness. To give a few context to the situation, I used to be raised in India exactly where lizards, usually in huge numbers, are often available on walls particularly during the warm weather. I firmly believe that my fear of lizards can be explained using Pavlov’s classical conditioning.

Classical fitness is the form of learning that develops via producing associations. Basically, Classical health is a type of learning with which a natural stimulus turns into associated with a meaningful stimulus and acquires the capacity to elicit an identical response (Feist, 2008, s. 449). In addition , Clark (2004) in his document, The Classical Roots of Pavlov’s Conditioning provides a detailed insight at the beginning of traditional conditioning plus the reasoning at the rear of the change of Pavlov conditioning to classical fitness (Clark, 2004). With regards to time-honored conditioning, I believe my fear of lizards could be traced back in my more youthful years.

While i was in my childhood years, My spouse and i heard my own older sis always shouting every time the girl saw a lizard; the shout infusing a fear in me. The conditioning occurred as follows: At first when I saw the lizard, I always tried to avoid them mainly because I thought they were disgusting. When I heard my sibling screaming whenever she noticed the lizard, it frightened me and eventually, I created the fear of lizard.

So , after ability to hear my sibling screaming with the lizard too many times, I realized that I personally have developed a fear of lizard. Since then, I had fashioned learned to associate loud scream with lizard and hence developed a fear of lizard. Therefore , I really believe I have been trained to fear lizards. I believe the unconditioned stimulus is the lizard, the unconditioned response (fear), the trained stimulus (scream), and the conditioned response (fear of lizard). Also, I really believe I have bought behaviors through operant learning.

My desire to accomplish good grades and as a result, make my parents proud of my personal accomplishments could be traced back in my young years. My spouse and i strongly think that my wish to get good grades and to help make it my parents very pleased can be the result of a learning called operant conditioning. Operant conditioning is actually a type of learning that occur when the reinforcement follows a certain behavior; consequently increasing the chance that the behavior will take place again.

Inside my case, while i was developing up I used to be always considered to be a good scholar amongst my teachers and my family. Each and every time I had exams, I always do well and my parents always told me that if I acquire above a certain level level, for instance becoming in the best three learners in class, Let me get a praise. The incentive (reinforcement) resulted in my parents put a party due to being happy with my successes. So , therefore I found that every time My spouse and i perform well in class, I got a reward (parents’ happiness). This in turn produced my family proud of me and it strong me to complete better the next occasion; hence it increased the probability which the behavior might occur once again.

This is not to say that the incentive caused me personally to respond in a selected way, rather the prize just elevated the likelihood the fact that behavior can occur again. I believe my family approval served as good reinforcement, mainly because it strengthened my personal behavior. Strangely enough, Research demonstrates that operant conditioning can also be used in the treatment of serious aphasia ( SigurГ°ardГіttir, 2006).

Furthermore, I have also bought learning encounters by using statement. In other words, I possess learnt behaviors by noticing what other folks do within a particular condition and then discovered to perform the same behavior in that particular circumstance. For instance, when I first moved to Canada, I was unaware of how the supermarkets work in terms of the entire process of taking your own shopping cart to taking your own groceries. As well, I was unaware that most from the grocery stores need customers to bag their particular groceries. Nevertheless I initial experienced the western food market environment, I wasn’t sure how everything was supposed to work, so I seen how others performed the work.

When I went to the checkout I saw persons unloading all their groceries and afterwards, packing it too. Therefore , I actually realized how a process performed and I found me personally performing the task just as I saw other customers performing. In the end, My spouse and i recognized that I possess acquired this by looking at exactly how other people happen to be behaving and so by seeing them, We learnt to do in the same manner.

My spouse and i strongly assume that media plays an important portion in the learning process. Since younger kids spend the required time in front of all their TV’s and computers ( internet, video games), they may be more likely to encounter adult material such as foul language, violence, kissing amidst other things sooner than their father and mother generation. Likewise, if they encounter these adult materials sooner within their lives, additionally, it has implications on their social behavior, desensitization of physical violence, rape, shootings and so on.

Moreover, prejudice likewise plays a significant role in learning. For instance, teenagers are stereotyped as acting up, violent, and arrogant group and if the society recognizes them stereotypically, the teenagers are going to find out that such an egotistical behavior is probably the way they should be, whether or not they are not really. Hence they will learn to respond in such arrogant ways so that they can squeeze into the unoriginal picture that is made by the media plus the society. In conclusion, classical health and fitness is a form of learning that happens when a simple stimulus (NS) becomes matched (associated) with an unconditioned stimulus (UCS) to generate a trained response (CR) ( Feist, 2008, 449).

This type of conditioning was introduced by Ivan Pavlov thus also called Pavlovian conditioning. A number of the main components of Classical fitness are: neutral stimulus (NS), unconditioned stimulation (UCS), unconditioned response (UCR), conditioned stimulus (CS), and conditioned response (CR). Operant Conditioning, on the other hand, is a type of learning in which voluntary answers are controlled by their consequences. If a actions are reinforced, it increases the probability that the habit will occur again.

A number of the basic principles of operant fitness are: Confident Reinforcement, Adverse Reinforcement, Shaping, Positive Treatment, and Unfavorable Punishment. Curiously, Research demonstrates human infants are also in a position of learning operant discrimination (Simmons, 1964). Lastly, Cognitive-Social learning theory emphasizes the roles of thinking and social learning in patterns (Carpenter, 2008).

There are several types of learning that takes place: perception learning, latent learning, and learning from observation. A perspective that highlights the jobs of considering and sociable learning is usually behavior. Therefore , classical fitness, operant conditioning and cognitive social learning are all kinds of learning’ therefore called learning theories. Likewise, Classical and operant health and fitness share many of the same basic principles and techniques.

Some of those basic principles are: obtain, extinction, spontaneous recovery, and stimulus generalization. References. Carpenter, S. & Huffman, K. (2008). Visualizing Psychology. Hoboken, NJ: Wiley.
